Oriental & Area Rug Cleaning

An area rug is like a fine work of art. Therefore, we take special care when cleaning your area rug and use a special process designed just for them.

Preserve and Protect

Because of the delicate nature of area rugs, many variables must be considered in the rug cleaning process. Zerorez® takes special care when cleaning area rugs.  We clean all fine area rugs in our rug bath.  We detail rugs by hand, and don't hesitate to redo any step in the cleaning process that fails to meet our high standards.

Area Rug Pet Urine Stain Removal

Pet urine stains are particularly difficult because wool and cotton are natural fibers that absorb dyes easily. The alkalinity of urine can result in bleaching or dye bleeding. If an animal has urinated or defecated on a rug, we must bring the rug back to our facility so that it can be submerged in our rug bath. Sometimes the dyes damaged by urine are released during the bathing process causing color bleeding. Some animal feces can also stain the carpet due to dyes used in pet food or medication. If such damage has occurred or does occur during the bathing process, we cannot guarantee the removal of the stain.

Area Rug Cleaning with Pet Urine Odor Removal

Pet urine odors are a result of the living bacteria that is in the rug fibers and backing. Zerorez® uses special surfactant, solvents and rinse additives combined with mild acids to help neutralize urine salts, break down lipids and assist the flushing of the rug. An emulsifier is then applied to eliminate any remaining residue. The use of these specialized products does include an extra charge due to the extra chemicals and time involved with this process. We cannot always undo the discoloration the acids in the urine may have caused to the rug, (stains); however, we can remove the urine and other residues, and thus eliminate the odor.
